Direct mail for restaurants & food

Restaurant menu mailers and EDDM that put you in every kitchen drawer

A folded restaurant takeout menu mailer with a pizza photo and coupons on a kitchen counter

A restaurant's customers live within a few miles, order the same few things, and keep the menu that came in the mail in a kitchen drawer for months. Every Door Direct Mail was practically designed for restaurants: every home on the routes around the door, no list, $0.26 postage, and a menu or coupon card that gets kept.

We print EDDM menu mailers, 6.25×11 coupon postcards, grand opening announcements and catering offers, bundle them and deliver them to the post office. New mover programs send a welcome offer to every household that arrives in your ZIP codes each week, which is the highest-response mail a restaurant can send.

What restaurants & food businesses mail

  • EDDM menu mailers (11×17 folded or 8.5×11) with coupons
  • Grand opening saturation to every route within 3 miles
  • Weekly new mover welcome offers
  • Catering and holiday party self-mailers to businesses
  • Loyalty and win-back postcards from your POS or online ordering data
  • Seasonal and game-day coupon cards

The menu mailer

An 11×17 sheet folded to 8.5×11 carries a full menu on the inside, coupons on the back and a photo that makes people hungry on the front, and it is EDDM-eligible as folded. Printed on 80lb gloss text it costs about $0.20 per piece at 5,000 plus $0.26 postage, so a full menu in 5,000 homes is about $2,300. Pizza places, Chinese and Thai restaurants, delis and wing shops mail it every eight to twelve weeks.

Coupons that get redeemed

Three offers on the card, not ten: a family deal, a lunch deal and a first-order discount for delivery. Each with an expiration date about five weeks out and a code so you know which card produced the order. The offer should be worth the trip; 10% off does not move anyone, a free appetizer with a $30 order does.

Grand openings

Saturate every route within three miles two weeks before opening with a "we are opening" card, then again the week of with a coupon, then mail the new movers weekly from then on. Three touches in a month around an opening produce a first-month crowd that reviews and word of mouth then carry.

Restaurants & Food direct mail questions

How much does restaurant direct mail cost?

An EDDM coupon postcard (6.25×11) costs about $0.40 per piece all-in at 5,000 pieces, or $2,000 to reach every home on the routes around the restaurant. A folded menu mailer costs about $0.46 per piece at the same quantity, about $2,300.

How often should a restaurant send EDDM?

Every eight to twelve weeks to the same routes, with the offers refreshed each time, plus a weekly new mover program. Menus are kept, so the goal is to be the menu in the drawer when the household decides not to cook.

Can you mail menus?

Yes. Menus print as folded self-mailers or as 8.5×11 EDDM flats, with coupons and the address panel placed to USPS rules. Folded 11×17 menus are the most common format.
