Everything people ask before they order
How much does direct mail cost?
From about $0.40 per piece all-in for EDDM at volume to about $1.25 for a letter package mailed First-Class. A 6×9 postcard printed and mailed as USPS Marketing Mail, the most common piece, costs about $0.58 per piece at 5,000 pieces including postage. Printing, mail processing and postage are itemized on every quote.
How are you up to 60% less than other direct mail companies?
We publish our printing and mail-processing prices and pass USPS postage through at cost, instead of quoting a blended per-piece rate with the markup hidden inside. A 6×9 postcard mailed as Marketing Mail costs about $0.58 with us at 5,000 pieces; the big online printers and full-service agencies commonly quote $0.85 to $1.50 for the same piece.
Is there a minimum order?
No minimum for First-Class Mail, so you can send one postcard or fifty. USPS Marketing Mail, the cheaper class, requires at least 200 pieces per mailing because it is a presorted bulk rate. EDDM requires 200 pieces per mailing.
How long does it take from order to mailbox?
We print and enter the mail within two business days of proof approval. From there, First-Class pieces arrive in one to five business days, Marketing Mail in three to ten, and EDDM in three to seven. Plan on about two weeks end to end for a Marketing Mail campaign.
Do I need a mailing list?
Not for EDDM, which reaches every address on the carrier routes you choose. For targeted mail you can upload your own list, or we build one from national consumer and business databases by geography, demographics, home value, business type or new mover status, with counts before you pay.
Do you need a bulk mail permit to use your service?
No. Everything mails under our USPS permit with our indicia on the piece, so you never pay permit or annual mailing fees. Nonprofits with their own USPS authorization can mail under it through us to get the nonprofit rate.
Where do you mail?
Everywhere the USPS delivers: all 50 states, Washington DC and the US territories, with dedicated pages for the sixty largest metros. Mail is printed at our production facility and entered into the USPS network for delivery anywhere in the country.
Can you design the mail piece?
Yes. Free editable templates are included for every size, custom postcard design is a flat $149 with two rounds of revisions, and any artwork you upload is preflighted free of charge before it prints.
Do your prices include postage?
The printing and mail-processing prices on this page do not; postage is added at the current USPS rate and shown as its own line so you can see exactly what it costs. The calculator and every quote show both lines and the all-in total per piece and per mailing.
Why is postage listed separately?
Because it is the one line every competitor buries. Postage is set by the USPS and is the same for everyone; the printing and processing price is where companies differ. Showing the two separately lets you compare our price against any other quote honestly.
What is included in the print and mail-processing price?
Printing in full color on both sides on 14pt cover or the stock listed, CASS and NCOA address processing, de-duplication, presort, Intelligent Mail barcodes, addressing, the postage statement, and entry at the USPS. For letters it includes folding, inserting and sealing; for EDDM, bundling, facing slips and delivery to the post office.
Are there setup fees or hidden charges?
No. No setup fee, no permit fee, no annual mailing fee, no list-processing fee and no rush fee on standard turnaround. Optional items such as a purchased list, custom design, call tracking numbers or live stamps are priced separately and shown before you approve anything.
Do prices go down for larger quantities?
Yes. Per-piece printing and processing falls at 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000, 25,000 and 50,000 pieces. Postage falls slightly as well when a list is dense enough to sort to the 5-digit level. Quantities above 50,000 are quoted individually.
Can I get a quote for a size or quantity not on the page?
Yes. Send the size, stock, quantity and where it is going through the quote form and you will have a written all-in quote, usually within a business hour. Custom sizes, specialty stocks, inserts and volumes over 50,000 are all quoted this way.
What do I need to start a direct mail order?
A design (yours, a template, or one we make), a mailing list or a set of EDDM routes, and a choice of size and mail class. Upload the design and the list, or tell us the routes, and we send a proof and a count before anything prints.
What file format do you need for the artwork?
A PDF at 300 dpi in CMYK with 0.125 inch of bleed and fonts embedded is ideal. We also accept Adobe files, high-resolution JPG and PNG, and Canva exports. Everything is preflighted free of charge and we tell you exactly what to fix if something is off.
Do I get to approve a proof?
Yes, always. A digital proof of the front and back, with the address block and indicia in place, is sent before production and nothing prints until you approve it. A printed proof mailed to you is available on request.
How do I know the mail was delivered?
Every piece carries an Intelligent Mail barcode that USPS equipment scans as it moves through the network. We report the scans by ZIP code and day, so you can see when the bulk of the mailing hit mailboxes and time your follow-up.
Can I reorder the same mailing?
Yes. Every job is saved with its design, list and settings, so a repeat drop is two clicks. The list is re-run through NCOA before each drop so movers are updated.
Do you mail everywhere in the United States?
Yes. We print and mail to every address the USPS delivers, in all 50 states, DC and the territories. The city pages cover the sixty largest metros in detail; a campaign to any other city, county or state works the same way.
Is postage different by city?
No. USPS Marketing Mail, First-Class and EDDM postage cost the same per piece regardless of destination, from Manhattan to rural Montana to Honolulu. Transit time varies: local mail lands in three to five business days, Hawaii and Alaska take a few days longer.
Can one campaign cover several cities?
Yes. A single mailing can include routes or lists in any number of cities and states, presorted and entered together, with a different version of the piece for each area if the offer or the phone number changes.
Do you have local offices?
We are a national print-and-mail operation, not a chain of storefronts. Every mailing is produced at our facility and entered into the USPS network for delivery anywhere in the country, which is how the pricing stays the same in every city.
How fast can you print?
Standard flyers, postcards, business cards and rack cards with approved artwork by 10am can ship or be picked up the same business day; most other products are next business day. Specialty stocks and finishes take two to five days.
Do you ship print orders nationwide?
Yes. Print-only orders ship by ground or air to any US address, and most arrive within one to three days of production. Mailed products go straight into the USPS stream instead.
Can any print product be mailed?
Most can. Flyers, brochures, rack cards and booklets can be set up as self-mailers or EDDM pieces; postcards mail as they are. Door hangers, banners and stickers are print-only, though the same design can be reprinted as a mailer.
Do you offer design for print products?
Yes. Free templates for every product, custom design from $149, and a free preflight on any file you upload.
Which industries use direct mail the most?
Real estate, home services, dental and medical practices, restaurants, insurance and financial services, nonprofits, political campaigns, automotive and retail, in roughly that order, plus e-commerce brands that have adopted mail as a performance channel. Each has a program that works, described on its page.
Do you have templates and offers for my industry?
Yes. Every industry page links to templates sized and written for that field, with the offers, formats, lists and cadence that produce results there. A quote request with your industry named gets a recommended program with it.
Can you handle compliance-sensitive mail?
Yes. Healthcare mail is produced under a business associate agreement, financial and insurance pieces carry the disclosures your compliance contact approves at proof, and political mail carries the required disclaimers and is entered as USPS Political Mail.
How quickly will I get a quote?
Usually within a business hour during business hours, and always within one business day. The quote is written, itemized into printing, mail processing and postage, and carries no obligation.
Can I get free samples?
Yes. Check the sample request box on the quote form and we will mail a pack of postcards, an EDDM piece, a letter package and a self-mailer on the stocks we print, so you can see and feel them before you order.
Do you work with agencies and resellers?
Yes. Agencies, marketing consultants and print brokers mail their clients' campaigns through us at wholesale pricing with white-label proofs and reporting. Ask on the quote form.
